As Head of Guidance Counselling, Cathedral and John Connon School for over 19 years, I have worked with over 6000 students facilitating career goals of all kinds of learner and abilities. 80% of these students applied overseas and have been placed in some of the best colleges in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia. 20% of the remaining who opted to continue pursuing higher education in India include IIT, Engineering, Medical Schools, National Law Universities, Fine Arts and Music institutions, Bachelor’s degree programs in Science, Humanities, Commerce, Management, Mass Media, etc. attending some of the best colleges in the country.
As Head of Learning Resource Centre, Cathedral and John Connon School since 2005 supporting differently abled students in realizing their goals, especially in an highly academic and competitive atmosphere, is immensely satisfying. As a Mathematics teacher for special needs students from grade 8 through 10, understanding each student’s nuanced needs has resulted in ensuring that every student realizes his/her potential. My experience encompasses dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADD, ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome, Tourette’s syndrome, and slow learners, colour blindness, hearing impaired, visually impaired, and gifted learners.
As part of my portfolio I have supported student with special talents in sports, athletics, music, dance and fine arts.
As Advanced Placement coordinator, PSAT and SAT coordinator, SSD coordinator my role included guiding students make the right choices at the right time to ensure optimum outcomes. Appointed and served as Board member of College Board’s International Advisory Committee, as a result of dispassionate and objective discussions.
